February has started (actually it is 2nd of February, 2022 today :), and how are the things with you?
It seems like we passed the coldest time of this season, didn't we?
二月が始まりましたが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
大寒を過ぎ、寒さも峠を越えた感じがしますね。
コロナも中々 up and downの状況ですが、楽しいことは楽しい、好きなものは好き、と可能な限りstress freeにゆきたいと思っているteacher Rieです。
I have been working at the international school in Chigasaki, located about fifteen-minute walk to seaside since the last summer.

There we have several Japanese English teachers including me, and more of western native speakers such as from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa etc.
私を含む日本人・英語講師の他に、ネイティブスピーカーの先生方がいらっしゃり、ニュージーランドやオーストラリア、南アフリカなどから来られています。
And although those native teachers have surely been putting up with the situation for so long, being far apart from their countries, I thought it's useful and makes sense that we appreciate smaller things and feel joy. Whether that's books, music, cuisine, staying with a child ... (by the way, my eldest son started cooking by himself too, quite promising very thankfully)
長いコロナ禍、遠く出身地から離れて異国で順応してきたがんばりや工夫があったと思われます。
日々の小さなことに感謝したり、自分の好きなもの（例えば読書・音楽・料理とか）に改めて熱中してみたり。。そんな風にして、私たちはたのしみを見つけながら過ごしたのではないでしょうか。 🌺
For the last two years we, perhaps, have come to re-make or build such our own style, of seeing the issues as well as having certain attitudes.
この二年間を振り返ると、きっと各々のスタイルともいえるやり方・生き方が出来てきたんではないでしょうか。
Languages then, might not be one of the priorities for now, however I really would like it to stay as hope not merely linguistic tool, and it should be the door for all of us towards different cultures & experiences.
言語/外国語は今は第一優先ではないかもしれないけれど、世の中の希望であってほしいですし、人々にとって異なるカルチャーや経験への変わらぬ「扉」でいてほしいと感じるのですよね。
その瞬間のために温めておく、根をはれたらと学生から子どもたちまで英語を伝え続けています！
